Before and after - Vorher und nachher

After our very large ash tree was removed exactly one week ago,
I still have a lot of work to do.
Restore the lawn, reseeding some areas, planning for new flowerbeds, plant a new tree now or wait for spring?
The weather has changed quite a lot, in Toronto we enjoyed a beautiful warm fall day. But snow fall has been reported in Northern Ontario and Manitoba.  Perhaps colder temperatures arrive very soon.

Vielleicht erreichen uns kalte Temperaturen sehr bald.

...and here are some flower pots I placed in front our our house entrance...

What happened to my tree? Was ist mit meinem Baum passiert?

Our wonderful, very large ash tree in front of our house is gone.
A very sad day indeed, I loved the tree in front of my window.
Watched squirrels and birds build their nests in the tree.
The fallen leaves provided wonderful compost for my flowerbeds.
But the ash tree was dying very slowly over many years due ash-borer infestation.
More and more fallen dry branches presented a danger to our house and neighbours.
After every storm I looked out of the window and checked if the tree was still standing.
We hoped to have the tree pruned again and consulted
Lakeside Tree Service to inspect the tree.
But unfortunately there was no other option, the tree had to be removed.
Just before the tree was cut down a bird arrived, set down briefly and flew away.
Maximus will miss his tree too...
