TODAY'S FLOWERS - Dandelion - Löwenzahn Taraxacum sect. Ruderalia

Taraxacum officinale, commonly called Dandelion, is a herbaceous perennial plant of the family Asteraceae (Compositae). It can be found growing in temperate regions of the world, in lawns, on roadsides, on disturbed banks and shores of water ways, and other areas with moist soils. T. officinale is considered a weedy species, especially in lawns and along roadsides, it is sometimes used as a medical herb and in food preparation.

As a nearly cosmopolitan weed, Dandelion is best known for its yellow flower heads, that turn into round balls of silver tufted fruits, away on the wind.

Many people dislike dandelions, consider them as obnoxious weeds.. not me..
Found this beautiful wildflower and dandelion meadow in Merano, Italy. Enjoyed the beautiful flowers and surrounding nature!

Let's celebrate Guildwood Gardens 2nd blog anniversary.
The most noteworthy thing about me is
I am always optimistic,
always enterprising, and never satisfied.
I always look forward to do something better
than I have ever done before.

Love to share my garden with the all my visitors from around the world.
I am grateful for all their comments, advise and inspirations.
Thank you for your friendship.

It is my pleasure to participate every Sunday at TODAY'S FLOWERS event, created by TODAY'S FLOWERS TEAM of Brasil DENISE B. CASTRO, LAERTE PUPO and LUIZ SANTILLI JR. please visit http://flowersfromtoday.blogspot.com/ for more info.

(Matthias Claudius, (1740 - 1815)

Our cat Max - El Presidente II loves and enjoys our garden.

Many others visitors are welcome as well...Skunks, Groundhogs, Foxes and a variety of birds call our garden and Guildwood their home.

The Well-Tended Perennial Garden

Planting & Pruning Techniques
(Expanded Edition)
By Tracy DiSabato-Aust
With more than 180,000 copies sold since its original publication, The Well-Tended Perennial Garden has proven itself to be one of the most useful tools a gardener can have. Now, in this expanded edition, there's even more to learn from and enjoy. This is the first, and still the most thorough, book to detail essential practices of perennial care such as deadheading, pinching, cutting back, thinning, disbudding, and deadleafing, all of which are thoroughly explained and illustrated. More than 200 new color photographs have been added to this revised edition, showing perennials in various border situations and providing images for each of the entries in the A-to-Z encyclopedia of important perennial species. In addition, there is a new 32-page journal section, in which you can enter details, notes, and observations about the requirements and performance of perennials in your own garden.

Two days of sunshine..zwei Tage Sonnenschein

Two days of sunshine, seasonal temperatures with a beautiful blue sky,
and Chickadees chirping in the trees..
Enjoying my first time in the garden!
Picking up broken twigs and raking the lawn.
Snowdrops blooming along the fence and
flower buds of the Star Magnolia are telling me..
It is time for spring!

*********
